Not just a job…

Last few weeks I did a presentation on our department general work flow. I’ve prepared some presentation slides, some handouts indicates the work flow (I try my best to be as clear as possible) and everything was fine at that time. Soon afterward one of my colleagues complained that it seems that the stakeholders affected in the work flow either did not understand partially on my presentation or totally clueless on that. Hence I end up scratching my heads trying to figure out what went wrong (No wonder my CSO is having lesser hair ;) )

Going to Singapore

Posted by ayoi | General,work and IT | Friday 27 June 2008 1:07 pm

So guys, I’ll be off to Singapore in couple of days and only be back on the 5th of July 2008. I just dun have any idea whether I might be able to update my blog during my time there. If yes then it would be fine but if not, maybe I can post something once I get back home. Perhaps I might be able to upload some pictures during the SANS training as well.

See you later and wish me luck eh ;)

Another Training?

Posted by ayoi | work and IT | Tuesday 25 March 2008 11:36 am

Yeah, that’s whut I’ve read in my e-mail this morning. This time at Client site far far away (but thankfully still in Klang Valley). Duration? Another exhausting 4 days. The topic? Introduction to ICT Security again. I feel exhausted already and I dun even know whether I can perform this training. Lately I’m in foul mood. I’m struggling to find the passion that used to be burning inside of me :P

Am I bored with my task? I dun think it is the issue but it seems that my learning cycle has stopped and more in stagnant mode. I need somebody to exchange views, knowledge, has some discussion (which will not be one way traffic). Feel lil bit isolated here. Duh..

Preventing DDoS?

Posted by ayoi | work and IT | Thursday 13 March 2008 3:40 pm

Today is the final day of my Introduction to ICT Security class (finally after 16 tiring days). During explaining the proper detection processes, I’ve been asked by one question.

“How can we prevent Distributed Denial of Service Attack?”

As example let see one simple scenario. You’ve been attack by SYN Flood attacks where the attacker is using random-hosts or spoof source IPs, what is or what are your countermeasures?

Can anyone give their opinion/views/suggestion?

Looking forward for that

After a week free of any trainings that need to be conducted (still busy with the sensors deployment to our client), again my next 2 weeks will be fulled with trainings schedules. To be honest it is tiring job (and I can’t remember why I volunteered at 1st place) and as a result I have tonnes of pending tasks that need to be completed. Hopefully those can be sorted out after these trainings.

Anyway it seems that wifey currently enjoying her new job at her new workplace. Btw she’s become my source of information on outside views of my current company (some nice and some are not). It is nice to have views and opinions from external and from there I think few things need to be improved and perhaps some remediation process.

Of cause all the tiredness, tensions, pressure will be gone as soon as I reached home and to see all of my children are waiting for both me and wifey. Especially the twin (now each of them has a tooth to show and to bite). I am blessed to have these wonderful children as my kids.

I am working hard to post some interesting things regarding security and other informational stuff (many pending drafts tho) and really really hope that I can start blogging regularly in the future.

What a day

Nothing special actually, just the beginning of my training class. It seems that I’ve suffered from some minor sore throat. Hopefully the voice will be there on thursday. I have to remind myself that I need to speed up few things (regarding the training) as I just realized that I am supposed to finish at least 100 slides today but as far as I’ve know, I just completed a fraction of the slides (50 slides only). I thought I’ve conduct my training in fast mode. I need to go faster but also have to ensure that my students really understand and properly received the messages that I’ve tried to convey.

Well another 15 days to go :P

updates: Received few good tips from my friend geek00l on conducting training. Well I have to stop bombard the trainees with slides and some lengthy explanation.  I definitely need to revise the slides
