Hectic day
Busy day for me today. Btw only managed to get 1 hour of sleep (I can’t resist to watch “Escape from Alcatraz” starring Clint Eastwood. I used to watch this film when I was an innocent young child. Based on true story about how Frank Morris and the Anglin brothers escaping from the most secured prison. Are they still alive now or drowned while trying to swim/peddling across to reach the mainland still remain as mystery. Even Mythbusters has one segment in searching whether the effort of this 3 fella succeed or not.)
Anyway once I reached the office and before I can put my ass down on my comfy chair, The Client shows me that one of the servers has been redefaced. What can I say. That’s the price you have to pay when :
a). Ignoring advice/suggestion from the consultant that been hired and paid by you
b). Weak security policy
c). A network administrator who either didn’t aware of his task, do not bother of knowing his task properly or simply dun have any interest in the job itself. Yeap, this is the same Network Admin.
d). Yes, I know that we need to work smart while performing our task but at least make an effort to put a password for you CMS. Maybe you have memory lapse problem and it’s easier for you to update the content or whutever you need to do without having to memorize the password but then you make it easier for ANYBODY to “do the job” for you as well.
Even before the report can be sent, another incident happens. Again, that’s the price you have to pay when :
a). Allowing any workstation to bypass your proxy
b). Never informing us when adding new server in your DMZ.
c). Didn’t aware that you have additional server in your DMZ.
d). Allowing anonymous ftp user accessing your I-dun-know-whut-kind-of-server with full access. Next time inform us that your network now serves warez trading service as well.
I dun know why those incidents must happen during my shift aaa. Anyway I’m not the one who detected the second incident but one of my SAs, Mr Sulaiman (which I believe one day can be a good consultant as well). My task is just to verify the incident. That’s all. Keep up the good work.

Why those incidents must happen during your shift??? I think your team members have good analytical skills. Thanks to your group members…
I will always give credit and acknowledge my team members. That’s why I’m proud and glad to have those ppl and perhaps maybe you as well to be my team members. Anyway the words good analytical skills still can be argued. Most of the time there’s no one (besides few person-you know who you are aaa) nobody able to describe their analysis to me. That’s the only thing that I’m so disappointed of my team. Besides that they are the best. I really hope that they will keeps on improving especially in term of knowledge.
p/s: anonymous, did u notice that your IP is same as mine
. Anyway thank you for a good job well done.
Sistem Admin depa ustat-ustat belaka. Setakat server-server ni main tawakkal je.
Itu lah fasal.
