No jobs available? Are you kidding me?

So on coming tuesday (5 Dec 2006) I will conduct another round of interview for Security Analyst post and my best friend, eazam aka jang will looking an additional team member for his department (deployment) for administration post (Doing documentation, answering phone calls, “layan”ing customer constitute to administrative work IMHO). For Security Analyst post, we need 6 more person where 3 posts are required to be filled urgently (most of the current SAs working their ass off to fill in the gap of the missing personnel).

Sadly, if I added the last round of interview, only 8 people really wants to work (Last interview =4 with 1 person already qualified for 2nd interview where next tuesday will be another 3 with 1 person not confirm whether she wants to attend the interview or not).

Now where the hell are those unemployed *60,000 (approx) malaysian graduates? What’s with the complaint about difficulty of getting job (ok but at least apply, attend the interview, know ur weaknesses and work on it and attend another interview lah), there’s no job available and so on. Don’t be so choosy la my friend and btw I believe there are lots of unemployed IT Degree holders out there. Don’t tell me you don’t know how to answer all(OK lah not all, I’m a fair person what..) my questions which I believe are basic questions. Browse the internet, get the appropriate info, get a grep/ngrep(haha) of the concept. Training will be provided la my friends. All you need is the eagerness, willingness to learn and self enhancement.

C’mon la, all of you are not that dumb lazy low on knowledge rite. You are degree holder maa..

*Anyone can point out the exact and latest number of unemployed graduates? I’m too lazy :P to google but more than happy to put the correct figure. Thanks

Update : Thanks to mr Anthony for pointed out the exact figures. Just to quote him “from my searching, it seems the are currently around 80,000 unemployed graduates out there where at least 10000 – 15000 are from the computer & IT industry. staggering statistics!”

For me, it’s better to have industrial certification such as GCIA, GCIH, GSEC etc as the training is more specific. But as far as I concern, having a degree means nothing if we didn’t get the knowledge that we are supposed to acquire during our learning periods. Most of the graduates that I noticed more on getting that damn piece of paper instead of gaining any knowledge. Having degree or not, as long as you have the required skills, knowledge/ experience, always make yourselves current and not title concious, you’re my man..

    p/s: I ain’t degree holder as well.

[...] Hohhoho, kinda lazy today. Btw I’ve conducted another round of interview session today. Like I stated in my last posting, only 2 turn out today. Both of them are woman. Two different type of candidates. The first one graduated from UITM in MIS, active person (the amount of her certificates is more like my snort manual keh keh keh). She has a good communication skills perhaps due to her work now as Personal Assistant to the owner of the company that she worked for. I can see her interest in network security field but alas, for the postition that she applied, with her current knowledge, I dun think that I can recommend her to fill the post. BUT I believe she’s more suitable for deployment department for the position of co-ordinator (I think la). She has the talent, the passion, the interest, the curiousity but not the knowledge (for now I hope). Jang, me and yoe agreed that she shud be offered that deployment post. [...]

Most (not all), are incompetent, tend to mumble rather than juggle for the competency for job & knowledge. They’re stupid fuck !
